With her unique aesthetic and over 25 years of experience, Jordan Ross has designed costumes for both artistic and commercial projects, working in theatre, dance, opera, film, television, industrials, events, and cruise ships.
After graduating from Northwestern University, Jordan began her career in Chicago.
A Joseph Jefferson nominee for excellence in costume design for the productions of A Streetcar Named Desire and Five Guys Named Moe, Jordan’s theatre credits span a wide range of work—from Shakespeare and Moliere, to musicals, to countless contemporary plays for regional and Chicago theatres.
Jordan served as the principle costume designer for River North Dance Chicago. Collaborating with Artistic Directors Sherry Zunker and Frank Chaves, Jordan created the company’s exceptional visual style. She also had the privilege of designing world premiere pieces for guest choreographers including Robert Battle, Margo Sappington, and Sidra Bell. Additional dance design credits include The Joffrey Ballet, Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre, BalletMet, and The Chicago Jazz Ensemble.
Working on commercial projects afforded Jordan opportunities of creating elaborate costume designs, and coordinating and styling wardrobe for more the 40 projects, industrials, meetings, and events showcased in the US and Europe. On the high seas, Jordan worked as a part of the award winning Royal Caribbean International design team, consistently voted number one in entertainment for cruiselines. Known for her versatility, she designed costumes for stage productions, water shows, shipboard events, and Dreamwork’s characters. Jordan recently created innovative designs for Starwater in the cutting-edge Theatre Two70 on the Quantum of the Seas. Among her ship credits are shows on the Azamara, Princess, and Norwegian Cruise Lines.
After residing in Kansas and Paris for over a decade, Jordan returned to Chicago in 2017. Recent higlights include a collaboration with the Chicago Sinfonietta, a world premiere at the Ravinia Festival, and an exciting new production of The Producers at the Paramount Theatre.
